The Artist

Tara M Houston (b. 1974) is an American artist that is currently residing in Oklahoma.

A wildlife artist for the past 25 years, Tara has chosen to expand and evolve her artistic style into creating textured wildlife paintings as well as creating one-of-a-kind mixed media sculptures.

Tara continues to find her greatest source of inspiration is through nature and the real-time study of wildlife in their natural habitat. It is her real-life travels, studies, and experiences with wildlife that she brings home to her studio to create expressive and unique pieces where each work of art is carefully curated and completed with a focus on the elements of emotion, color, texture, and realism. 

 

Through her art, Tara strives to capture the raw and emotional energy of each and every one of her wildlife subjects where each one is an exploration into the true character, behavior, and testament of the animals themselves.

Entirely self-taught, Tara has always walked to the beat of her own drum, following her own path where she continues to push the boundaries of her knowledge and experiences always seeking new challenges and growth.

As an international artist who has won several awards and accolades, Tara's artistic repertoire is comprised of several different mediums and subject matter including figurative, abstract, equine, digital illustration, muralist, and landscapes, but it is wildlife that has always been and always will be her true passion and that which drives her creativity. ​
