The Artist

Tara M Houston (b. 1974) is an American artist based in Colorado.

Known as a painterly painter creating works that embody emotional realism, Tara's art reflects a harmony of energy and inspiration where each creation is a semblance of emotion, a story to tell, or a divine spark that speaks from the heart and soul.

In 2025, Tara began creating art combining contemporary painting techniques with gold leaf using early renaissance gilding techniques. The gold leaf process is slow, taking several weeks to complete with the use of 24k gold burnished to a mirror like shine.

 

Tara seeks to create works of inspiration with themes that explore symbolism, mythology, and the spiritual and esoterical.
